Killing Beth when she was finally ready to face the harsh realities of the new world, when she was willing to fight and embrace change—even when it required immense effort—is devastating. Her final words, “I get it now,” are gut-wrenching and perfectly encapsulate her growth. Beth symbolized everything good about the world before the apocalypse: humanity, kindness, and hope.

When she dies, all of that goodness is lost, leaving behind a void—even her own beliefs about the importance of rituals like funerals. It’s no coincidence that the group doesn’t give her a proper funeral, despite Beth having once emphasized how meaningful such acts were.

Her death marks a turning point for the group, and that's even more obvious in the outcome of Tyrese's death and why beth appears in his visions.

Beth’s death makes sense, her time in the hospital was leading to that, as does her lack of a funeral. It reflects the group’s growing despair and disconnection from their humanity. If you don’t understand that, you’re missing the point.
